A crow took away a piece of meat and sat at the top of a tall tree to enjoy his prize. A fox saw it.
"If I plan rightly", said the fox to himself, "I shall have the meat for my meal',The fox sat under the tree. He said in a sweet voice, "Good day, mistress Crow. How beautiful you look! Your voice must be very sweet."
The vain crow was pleased at his words. She wanted to please him with her song. She opened her mouth wide to caw a song.
Down dropped the piece of meat ! The fox caught it before it touched the ground. He walked away slowly advising the silly crow, "The next time someone praises your beauty, be sure to hold your tongue."
